Hunger Games Assessment #4

For my fourth and final assessment, I created a page of a newspaper. I chose to do this because I wanted to write the events of the Hunger Games in the Capitol people's point of view, and I wanted to get an idea of how the people of the Capitol recived the news. I created a newspaper page that was issued right after Katniss and Peeta won the Hunger Games. I briefly wrote about how the tributes from District 12 had finally won, and their love life in the Games. I also added an 'ad' at the bottom of the page informing people about the Vicotry Tour of the winners.

Hunger Games Assessment #3

For my third assessment, I made an identity chart of the Capitol. I did this because the Capitol is the reason why the horrible games exist, and I wanted to sum up what they were like. I picked five of the Capitol's characteristics, and I put a quote as proof for each one. I wanted the straight black lines that divide each characteristic to symbolize how controlling and strict the Capitol is.

Hunger Games Asssignment #2

For my second object, I chose to make a ticket. In the book it said after the Hunger Games were over, the arena was a great tourist site for the people from the Capitol. I chose to make this ticket because I wanted to create a visual on what the ticket for the death sites would look like. This particular ticket is for the death site of Rue. I made the ticket have weird colors such as the bright pink and blue to make it look like it was made in the capitol. "All the colors seem artificial, the pinks too deep, the greens too bright, the yellows painful to the eyes..." - p59.

Hunger Games Assessment #1

For my first Hunger Games Assessment, I drew a portrait of Haymitch. I chose to draw a picture of Haymitch because Haymitch, as the past Hunger Games winner and the mentor for Katniss and Peeta, is one of the main characters. I felt like he was one of the most important characters in the book. In the book he is described as being constantly drunk. I drew him in a state where he was drunk, but was 'fancied up' for the interview night before the Games started. I added the swirlie eyes to show that he was drunk. Around the picture, I put some quotes that described Haymitch's position and characteristics.

The Luttrell Psalter

1. What is the Luttrell Psalter? What does it portray?
2. What type of source is the Luttrell Psalter?
3. Why is the Luttrell Psalter a unique document?]

The Luttrell Psalter is a manuscript portraying the everyday lives of the people from the Middle Ages. The Luttrell Psalter is a primary source because it was written and drawn by the people who were living at that time (the Middle Ages). The Luttrell Psalter is considered unique because of its immense details and because unlike most psalters that served a religious purpose and showed stories from the Bible, the Luttrell Psalter showed the lives of the everyday lives of the rich and the peasants who worked for them.

Learning Profile B

Have you ever struggled in class, feeling the need to move, or simply change seats so that you could listen better with your left ear or view the whiteboard from a difernet angle?
The amazing characterstic about understanding your Learner Profile is that it will help you and your teachers know more about the best learning situations for each student; that is your strenghts, your preferences and areas that we can all work on and improve.
Today's blogpost is a reflection on the Learning Profiles done in class today. In a well structured response (using the information you gained in class), please reflect upon and answer the following:
1. I learn best when...
2. I need to....
3. The strategies that would help me in my learning...
4. I would like my teachers to know this about me....

My learning profile is B, which means that I am a logic learner, my dominant ear is my left ear, and my right eye, hand, and foot are dominant. I learn best when I am sitting in the front of the room on the right hand side where I can hear with my dominant ear. For I am a logic learner, I am a visual learner who needs to see, speak or write to learn. I am able to follow instructions in steps, and I prefer them as well. When I get an assigmen or a project, sometimes I might get confused or lost because I fail to see the big picture, but usually I'll end up just giving myself a to-do list and finish one step at a time. A good strategy for me would be to follow a set of instructions if there are, and if there isn't, just make one up. Something teachers should know about me is that where I sit in the classroom is really important. For example, I sit in the left side in the back of the room in math class, where I feel totally unfocused. Although I'm not exactly under stress, the information goes through my ear but I'm unable to process the information. Fortunately I'm able to make up for it by taking notes. This doesn't have to do with the learning profiles, but another thing I want my teachers to know is that sometimes I might be staring into space when I'm trying to focus or process information. It might look like I'm zooming off, but for real I'm just trying to block out noise and think.
